Simple, Elegeant, Unique...

Jen came over to spend the night at my parent's house in Fremont. To keep her suspicion low, I kept her in the loop about wanting to have a picnic at the top of mountain/hill in Sunol. We have been there countless times and have always done that, so she didn't think anything of it. I also showed her the currently empty backpack so she wouldn't suspect that I was hiding anything. I was doing the whole magician trick of "see! there's nothing suspicious up my sleeves". The next day, when she was getting ready, I slipt in the ring and the book...and then off we went to our hiking location.

The day couldn't have been better. It was bright and sunny with a nice cool breeze to make it not too hot (and not cold either). However, DARN!!! That backback was heavy!!! It was probably about 10-15 pounds of weight with the half gallon of water plus the sparkling cider (made out of glass). That was the hardest hike (next to Yosemite) that I've gone on. Jen was probably a quarter of a mile ahead of me, while I was huffing and puffing up the mountain! I know I'm not that out of shape!!!

Anyway, I had to spend about a half-hour cooling down and catching my breath. We found a secluded grassy place just off the trail where we could sit and not get distracted. Because it was springtime, the hills were actually green rather than the typical dead golden brown color it usually is. Of course we had our talk about life and the future...nothing really out of the ordinary. It was about that time when I presented her with an early anniversary gift (which was about 1 month away). She instantly loved the book, and because she had used the same services before, she knew the amount of work I had put into it.

So here we were sitting next to each other as I read through the book. It was like story-time where I was telling her "The Story of Peter and Jennifer". She was loving every minute of it (which she better note in her perspective of this day!!!) Long story short, we came to the end of the story where the last page is a photo of me on my knee proposing to her (I must have looked like an idiot when I was trying to get that picture using the camera timer).

She at first thought I was joking because of the Practice Proposal I had done earlier in December (see my other story). Of course, i had to clarify that no, this is for real...that's of course when I pulled out the real ring and asked her again. By this time she was in tears and speechless...she eventually said yes after about 20 seconds (could be shorter, but it sure felt long! Not that I had any doubts).
